green terror cichlid breeding
Breeding green terror cichlid can be done in the home aquarium. However, this work is moderately tough. For breeding green terror cichlid you will require a large aquarium setup. The minimum tank setup should be about 55 gallons or more. The method of breeding green terror is similar to any other fish of the cichlid family . These fishes are of egg layers type and they give about 400 eggs on a site. This site can be artificial slate, marble pieces, or fine broad leaves of aquarium plants. Before laying eggs green terror will clean the site and then deposit a layer of eggs.
For breeding, you will require a healthy pair. You can ask an aquarium dealer for proven pair or you can get about 7-8 young green terror cichlid. As they grow up they will pair up with themselves. Generally, males are larger with a hump on their heads. Give them protein-rich food basically live food. Do partial water changes of about 30 % per week and raise the temperature of the aquarium to 26 degrees Celsius. At the time of spawning the parents
become very aggressive and the members which were tolerable before come on their hit list. So remove any other fish else they will be killed soon.
After 3-4 days eggs will hatch and hundreds of fry will come out. You don’t need to separate your parents. As cichlid love their children and they will take care of them. You can give them newly hatched brine shrimps or crushed flake food. Maintain good water quality by subsequent small water changes at regular intervals of time.
