Discovering Tropical Ocean Fish
If you have an aquarium, you will be interested in thinking about putting some tropical ocean fish in it. In order to do this, however, you should learn a little bit about the fish so that you put it in the right surroundings with all of the proper components to its survival. It is also important that you take note of the proper tank to put the fish in as some tropical ocean fish need more space than others and would not survive in a smaller tank. If you are a beginner, there are things you will need to know about setting up your aquarium and about setting up your fish experience that you should discover before you begin.
First of all, make sure as to not buy the tank and the fish on the same day. It may be tempting, but you should make sure that your tank is prepared and ready to go so that you can introduce the fish to a functioning environment right away instead of needing a fish to adapt to your tank. Tropical ocean fish are born into an environment that works, not introduced to a new space that is forming into its own. This can cause major developmental problems and may cause your fish to die before it even begins to live in your tank. Be patient and you will find the right process through which to begin.
Learning To Swim
You should never buy tropical ocean fish from a tank where dead or dying fish are visible. The fish from this tank could be infected from the dead or dying fish and will bring that infection to your tank. You do not want to waste money on a dying fish. You should make sure that you observer your fish carefully before you buy it and check for any damaged fins or gill problems. When you add your fish from the bag to your tank, you should allow the bag to float in the tank for at least fifteen minutes so that the water from the bag to the tank equalizes and the fish is not improperly transplanted.
You should feed fish lightly when you add the fish so that you can minimize the pollution during the stabilisation period in the tank. Tropical ocean fish often suffer in home tanks from overfeeding as it is the number one error made by beginners. Add food in small amounts instead and watch the fish eat it. This will enable you to monitor their habits and feed accordingly.
